Welcome to Year 2

We’re excited to welcome you to Year 2 and the final year of Key Stage 1! This is a very special stage in your child’s learning journey, where they continue to grow in confidence, independence and curiosity while preparing for their move into Key Stage 2. For our Summer 1 term, please see below for our fantastic learning journey!

This half term is going to be fantastic as we will be exploring the theme “Movement and Transport”. The children will learn how different forces, like friction, air, and water resistance, can slow things down, and they will apply this knowledge in hands-on activities across several subjects. In French lessons, the children will learn vocabulary related to transport. They will practise speaking, listening, and role-play activities to describe how they travel, linking their language learning to the half-term theme. As part of this topic, the class will visit Magna Science Adventure Centre, where they will experience interactive exhibits about forces, movement, and materials. This exciting trip will give children a real-world perspective on the science they have been exploring in class.
