Welcome to Year 2

We’re excited to welcome you to Year 2 and the final year of Key Stage 1! This is a very special stage in your child’s learning journey, where they continue to grow in confidence, independence and curiosity while preparing for their move into Key Stage 2.

This half term is going to be fantastic as we explore the history of toys, learn about computer spreadsheets, discover French colours and numbers, investigate everyday materials, and even have a go at cooking! Through these exciting topics, children will build on their skills in reading, writing and maths while making meaningful connections across the wider curriculum.

For those of you who would like to get involved in your child’s learning journey and explore alongside them, this page will give you a clear insight into what we are covering.

You will find:

• Our Long Term Plan, which gives an overview of the learning for the whole year.

• Our Medium Term Plan, which outlines the lessons for this half term in more detail.

• A range of Knowledge Organisers, linked to specific lessons, which you can use at home to develop your child’s understanding, ask in-depth questions and challenge their knowledge further.

We know that every child learns at their own pace, and we celebrate their individual strengths and interests. Our classroom is a nurturing, inspiring and supportive space where children feel safe to share ideas, take risks and be proud of their achievements.
